Coffee grounds

Where coffee is drunk, coffee grounds are also present. Coffee grounds are the waste left after making a cup of coffee. Coffee grounds have previously been used by growers to grow mushrooms, but now they can also be used to make bioplastic.

 

We drink around 14 million cups of coffee in the Netherlands every year. That is equivalent to approximately 300 million kilos of coffee grounds every year. Most of it is thrown away, but new research from Japan's Yokohama University has come up with a solution. The waste can be used to make high-quality products, coffee grounds can be converted into nanofibers that have the same quality as fibers from wood or plants.

 

We offer some products (partially) made from coffee grounds. Products such as drinking cups, pens, sunglasses, notebooks and much more. By using coffee grounds as a raw material you can significantly reduce the CO2 footprint during the production process.

 

 

Sugar cane

Sugar cane is an excellent renewable source for 100% recyclable bioplastic. During the growing process of sugar cane, it removes CO2 from the air. Some sources show that for every kilogram of bioplastic produced, 3.09 kilograms of CO2 is removed from the air. Growing sugar cane is also done over "unusable land". This means that it does not lead to deforestation and actually replenishes the soil.

 

Sugarcane plastics have an identical chemical composition to petrochemical plastic and have the same safe benefits. Drinking bottles made from sugar cane plastic are waterproof, food-safe and 100% recyclable after long-term use.

 

We offer many options made from sugar cane, including the Tacx Shiva 500ml made from sugar cane. These bottles are of very high quality and durable. These bottles are 100% recyclable and after years of use they can be separated from the plastic and converted into reusable bioplastic.

 

 

Reused raw materials

A large part of our range is made from recycled materials. Including recycled milk cartons, recycled aluminum or stainless steel and recycled fabrics such as cotton.

This increases the possibility of a circular production process of products.

We work with these types of products with agencies and companies such as Plastic Bank®, Circular&Co, Oxious and Join the Pipe. Many of our products are GRS/RCS Certified and produced within Europe.

This ensures that these products are (partially) produced from recycled materials.
